A remarkable all round display of cricket by Oakville gives them an easy win over Stoney Creek.
Oakville fielded first, with Christian Flook and Amit Sawh opening the bowling. They both bowled a great line and length, not giving away any runs. Christian gave away only 7 runs in his 4 overs, and on the other end, Amit burst out into an astonishing few balls, and claimed 4 wickets of the top order for 0 runs. Stoney Creek went from being 13/0 to 13/4, and the middle order had to now come in and start fresh. Ayaaz Ali and Kamran Habib kept the pressure going, but Stoney Creek started a good partnership to keep them in the game. Balraj Heer kept the runs coming while Amolak Bahara was planted in his crease, knowing that no one would get him out. His resistance came to an end when he was out for 9 runs, after playing 56 balls. Balraj Heer top scored with 62 but Stoney Creek were bundled out for 146. Ayaaz Ali took 3 wickets but was outdone by Amit who had 4 wickets.
Chasing 147 was not a difficult task for the all star batting lineup, and they did not disappoint. Ayaaz Ali was unfortunate to get out and miss out on the party that Zaid Rehman and Niaz Paracha had planned. In almost no time, both these batsmen got to their 50s. Zaid got out after putting a 94 run partnership. Niaz and Majid Mahmood finished the 8 wicket win in only 20.2 overs. Zaid top scored with 71 in 43 balls (3 fours and 4 sixes) and Niaz was right behind with 54 in 38 balls (5 fours and 4 sixes).
A good day for Oakville, where the bowlers and batsmen did their job efficiently. Oakville will take on Force One on August 24th at Mohawk Park.
