Oakville - B 72 73 Mississauga - First
10th Aug 2014 - 12:30PM
Glenashton Park, Oakville
League Game

A disappointing batting collapse by Oakville hands them a tough loss against Mississauga.

Oakville won the toss and batted first. Rajpal Kang and Moin Khan got off to a good start, with Rajpal scoring two fours and Moin scoring two big sixes. Unfortunately, Mississauga bowling proved to be too much for them, as the collapse started, and Oakville batsmen kept getting out in regular intervals. No one besides the openers managed to score in double figures, and Oakville collapsed for only 72 runs. Ranjit Chaudhri was the best bowler for Mississauga – taking 4 wickets for only 12 runs.

Defending a low total was not going to be easy, but Sohail Khan gave a glimpse of hope when he ran in to bowl passionately, and took 2 big wickets. Unfortunately, it was not enough, and Mississauga completed their 8 wicket win over Oakville with ease, thanks to a quick 35 not out by Rohit Dua of Mississauga.

Although a few big names for Oakville were missing – as they were participating in the Niagara tournament, Oakville still put up a fight but in the end there were not enough runs on the board to defend. Oakville will look to get back at Mississauga when they face them once again next Saturday, August 16th at Glenashton Park.
